About
Georgetown University’s Initiative on Artificial Intelligence and Democratic Citizenship (AIDC) is dedicated to examining how AI is reshaping citizens’ participation in modern democracy. Grounded in a human-centered study of politics, AIDC focuses on the day-to-day experiences of democratic life and explores how ongoing changes in technology are affecting the possibilities of democratic self-governance.
AIDC came into being as the result of a seed grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to open a research center focusing on the ethical, legal, or societal implications of artificial intelligence. AIDC is affiliated with the Georgetown Department of Government and the Georgetown Humanities Initiative, as well as in a collaborative relationship with the Tech & Society ecosystem. AIDC also maintains an ongoing partnership with the Aspen Institute’s Philosophy and Society Initiative.
